New Macintosh Bible is out

Peachpit press announced Macintosh Bible, The, 9th Edition. Cheryl England, one of the editors, and Owen Linzmayer, one of the contributors, are friends of mine and I hear that there are some other big names from the mac community contributing to it. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this one and I'll try to post some tips from it as soon as I'm able.

To Optimize or not, that is the question

This AKB article Mac OS X: About Disk Optimization presents some interesting information on the subject of disk optimization in OS X. I know from my own experience that optimizing OS X with Tech Tools takes forever and the results are really not worth the effort. This article is a "must read"

Check Preference Files

I found a very useful little utility for checking for corrupted preferences files in OS X at Jon's Little Page of AppleScripts. Pretty Cool!

I wish there had been something like this for OS 8/9. Corrupt Pref files have alway been one of the main things to check when an application is misbehaving.
